Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
