'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the nail-biting dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses after the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and his teammate promptly slammed home the loose ball before sprinting toward the crowd to mark the goal, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result completed an extraordinary comeback given Swansea had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory secured a fourth-round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's volley from about long distance going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after the team changed formation. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they know how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're all right and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Orient and has quickly done the same in Wales. At the London club he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford City, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that maturation for his team and nation, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the past five games, including both legs games against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his eye for a killer pass.

Early Days

This marks an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who used to see his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they played on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to conditions of -15C. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he comments, grinning. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "It was relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a small coach driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the next one to drive independently and driving. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on public transport after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
