The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season introduces a large cast of characters residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible reveals, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans make a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
