Per recent claims from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for consideration by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is preparing the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” Maxwell with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for executive mercy.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unknown, Raskin added.

Claimed Perks and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the warden has individually organized exclusive visits for her and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a designated private space for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the security risk and potential for unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, she was given specific instructions about instructing her associates to call and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she “essentially used” the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release states that those writing to her would email documents directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, who would review and edit them and return them to the warden to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Reported

Other privileges allegedly granted to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a trainee assistance dog – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson noted.

Recent Background

Recently, reports surfaced that she told close associates in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

This past summer, she was moved from a secure facility in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was interviewed about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, the official, who also once acted as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around Trump's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found deceased in custody in that year while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, the congressman also revealed that he had sent a letter to Trump, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and urged the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

He inquired whether he had talked about a possible clemency for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the transfer or special conditions in prison, and whether she, her lawyers, family or agents have made any promises to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the nation's highest court rejected an appeal from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
